Developmental Stages Of Bees

Developmental Stages Of Bees

The development of bees goes through four stages: eggs, larvae, pupae, and adult bees.

Within 6 hours after the queen bee lays the fertilized eggs in the hive, the worker bees will instinctively secrete some royal jelly around the eggs.

After 3 days, the egg membrane will rupture and hatch larvae. The larvae will molt every 36 hours after hatching.

After 4 times of moulting and 6 days later, they will become pupae.

After being pupated, the larva does not move or eat food and only consumes the nutrients stored in the body.

After 11-12 days, it bites the cover and climbs out of the hive to become a young bee. The entire development process requires 16-17 days for queen bees, 20-21 days for worker bees, and 22-24 days for drones.

Knowing the development cycle of bees can facilitate us to cultivate appropriate age bees to increase the yield of bee products according to the local nectar sources and plant conditions.
