What Kind Of Place Is Suitable For Beekeeping?

What kind of place is suitable for beekeeping?

1. Abundant sources of nectar

Nectar source is the most basic condition for the development of bee breeding, especially for medium bees in fixed-point breeding. The reason is that the effective collection radius of bees is about 3 kilometers. Although bees will also collect more than 3 kilometers, the collection efficiency is relatively relative. In terms of it will be reduced a lot, so there must be a rich source of nectar within 3 kilometers of the apiary, and these nectar sources should preferably have a certain degree of diversity and continuity.

2. the climate is suitable

Although bees are highly adaptable to the natural climate, a suitable microclimate in the apiary is more conducive to the development of the bee colony. For example, the optimum temperature for bees is 15-25℃. When the temperature is too high, the colony will fan the wind or collect water. Come to cool down, this will increase the burden of the bee colony, and when the temperature is too low, the bee colony will stop production and clump to keep warm. In addition, the bees also have certain requirements for relative humidity, light and wind.

3. Quiet environment

Bees have higher requirements for the environment of the apiary. The most important thing is that the environment should be absolutely quiet. For example, it is not suitable for beekeeping in noisy places such as roads, railways, schools, etc. At the same time, bees cannot be kept in places with serious dust pollution nearby. The reason is that dust pollutes flowers and affects the collection of nectar and pollen by bees. In addition, bees have a habit of fearing smoke, so bees cannot be kept in places with frequent smoke.

4. less enemies

There are many predators of bees in nature. The more common ones are wasps, ants, spiders, etc. The hazards of wasps are the most obvious. The reason is that wasps not only kill the worker bees that go out, but also infest the colony when food is scarce. Therefore, it is not suitable for beekeeping in places where there are many wasps nearby. In addition, ants will sneak into the hives to steal honey and destroy the hive, and spiders will form webs to kill worker bees.

Summary: The success of bee farming depends not only on the beekeeping technology, but also a test of whether the site selection is correct. Only a suitable site and effective technology can be used to raise bees, especially for fixed-point breeding of Chinese bees. As important as technology!
