Bee species selection
China is a big beekeeping country. If you want to engage in the beekeeping industry, it is the key to choose your own bee colony. Generally speaking, the selection of bee colony can be done in the following steps.
One: Determine your own beekeeping area. The species of bees cultured in different regions are different, mainly because of the differences in cold resistance, reproduction, nectar collection, spitting, etc. between various bee species. Choosing the right bee species according to your region can give full play to the excellent performance of each bee species.
Two: the number of bee colonies purchased for the first time. As mentioned above, first determine your own beekeeping area, and then determine the number of bee colonies to purchase according to your needs. If you are a novice, it is best not to buy more than 10 groups, preferably 5-10 groups. It is possible to attack and retreat, and learn step by step. It is not too late to buy after the beekeeping technology is mature or to breed a large number of bee colonies yourself, so as not to cause uncontrollable losses.
Three: Determine where to buy the bee colony. The best way is to find other beekeepers in the surrounding area. The beekeepers should have helped and learned from each other. Communicate and learn more with professional beekeepers, one to add points to your skills, and the other to avoid the trouble of bee species selection. They can also be purchased from local beekeeping management stations or agricultural science institutes. The bee colonies purchased in these places are also relatively safe.
Four: the time to purchase the bee colony and the viewing of the bee colony. Late spring and early summer are the season when the colony is prosperous. There are a lot of honey and powder sources outside, which is suitable for buying at this time. However, in fact, it is not easy to buy the bee colony at this time, because this season is also the time when the bee farm has financial income, and generally the bee farm will not sell the bee colony.
If a bee farm agrees to sell, you need to check some of the bee colonies it sells:
1: Look at the appearance color, size, quality, old and new level of the beehive. Generally speaking, it is best to choose the size standard of the beehive. The cabinet is firm and free of holes and damages. Whether the beehive cover matches the beehive body, and whether the nest door switch is strict. Check the appearance of the screen mesh of the secondary cover for holes.
2: After lifting the cover of the beehive, pay attention to watch and listen to the movement of the worker bees. If the worker bees are quiet, there are not a large number of bees pouring out of the beehive and no long-term "buzzing" sound in the beehive, which means that the bee colony is tame; Check the queen bee. The age of the queen bee should not exceed 1 year. The body is large, the chest is wide, and the abdomen is full and long. The action is quick and steady; touch the queen bee with your hands, and the queen is not panic, which means that it is a good queen.
3: After uncovering the beehive, do you smell unpleasant smell, if any, the bee colony is sick and is not easy to buy.
4: Bees are evenly distributed in the beehive. The spleen has a large area, including capped and uncapped ones, and the capped spleen is neat and flat into a piece. The other spleen hives are evenly distributed in yellow color. Generally speaking, the darker the color of the bee's spleen is, the longer it takes to use this bee's spleen. The new bee's spleen is bright and slightly transparent yellow.
5: After buying the bee colony and transporting it to the bee yard that you have prepared, you can start your own beekeeping life.
