Master the three steps of artificial education king, novices can also be handy

If you want professional beekeeping and mass production of honey, cultivating queen bees is an indispensable job. Many new beekeepers feel confused about how to cultivate a queen bee. In fact, it is not that difficult. As long as you understand the three steps of cultivating a new queen, even a novice will be comfortable.

6

The first step: prepare tools, mainly including insect transfer needle, yuwang box, wax bowl stick, wax bowl, towel, basin and royal jelly. The following editor will introduce how to use these tools.

Insect transfer needle: A tool used to move the larvae to the Wangtai bowl. It is available on the market, or you can make it yourself. You can use thick copper wire or goose feather tube to make one with a flat tongue and the other with a spoon. It is recommended to use the insect transfer needles with springs on the market more convenient, the price is not expensive, usually between a few cents to two yuan.

Yuwang frame: the frame for placing the king's platform. It can be modified with a standard frame, and the width of the upper and lower frame beams and side plates are equal, about 13 mm. Three slats with a width of 10 mm are installed horizontally in the frame at equal distances.

Wax bowl stick: The wooden stick that is dipped in the wax bowl is 100 mm long. The end of the wax bowl is very round and the diameter is 8-9 mm at 10 mm from the end.

3

Wax bowl: The Wangtai base for nurturing queen bee is made by dipping a wax bowl stick with melted beeswax. Put the wax bowl stick in cold water for a while, take it out and shake off the water, insert it vertically into the melted wax about 10 mm deep, take it out, and stop for a while. Dip it 2-3 times, and then dip it lighter than once. Put it in cold water and take it off. The finished wax bowl has a thin mouth and a thick bottom, and the inside is smooth and without bubbles. However, experienced beekeepers do not use this method anymore. Instead, they directly consume the plastic king table on the market, which is more convenient to use and inexpensive.

Royal jelly: It can be taken temporarily from the natural royal station, or it can be collected and stored in the refrigerator in advance. When using it, add 1 time warm water to dilute the royal jelly. If a large amount of royal jelly cannot be collected at a time, we can lock up the queen bees of individual colonies and put them in the box, so that the worker bees in the colony without the queen bee will produce multiple emergency royal jelly, and there will be many in the queen bee. We can take out the royal jelly and use it, but be careful to lock it up when putting it back into the queen bee and let it stay with the bee colony for about a day before releasing it.

Step 2: Implanting: We can cultivate the number of queens we need in a planned way through the transfer of insects. First, we glue 2-3 layers of nest base strips on the slats of the Yuwang frame or glue it with molten wax at equal distances. Put 7-10 wax bowls on top of the small triangular thin iron sheet, and 3 wax bowls totaling 20-30 wax bowls, put them in the Yuwang group, let the bees clean for 2-3 hours and then take them out, and then use the bee broom to sweep away the bees. Put a drop of diluted royal jelly or honey in each wax bowl to move the insects.

The transplantation should be carried out in a clean and bright room, the room temperature is maintained at 25 degrees Celsius -30 degrees Celsius, and the relative humidity is 80%-90%. If the humidity is not enough, you can spray water on the ground. It is best when the temperature is above 25 degrees Celsius and there are no stolen bees. You can also move insects in the shade outdoors. Generally, we put out a box of small larval spleens from the mother colony, clean the bees and start to move the insects.

We first place the slats with wax bowls side by side on the table, use clean round-headed thin glass rods or thin bamboo rods to dot the rice-sized thin royal jelly in the wax bowl cleaned by bees, and then move the insects. When transferring the worms, the needle should be lowered from the back (convex) side of the small larva (day-old), the needle tip is close to the bottom of the room, the needle tip is inserted between the larva and the bottom of the room, the larva is picked up, and placed in the royal jelly in the wax bowl on. Then gently pull out the insect removal needle from below.

The larvae are very delicate, so the movement of the transfer should be light, steady and rapid. A larva is only allowed to be picked once with the transfer needle and cannot be repeated. Cover the slats after removing the insects with a wet towel. Put the slats that have been transplanted into the Yuwang box and sandwich them between the spleen and pollen spleen of the larvae in the Yuwang group. After half a day to one day, the box will be raised to remove the small larvae that have been accepted and re-implant for one day. Larvae less than age, this is called compound migration. More royal jelly can be obtained by multiple transplantation, and the queen bee cultivated by this method is of better quality and higher acceptance rate than the one cultivated by one-time transplantation.

4

The third step: Put the moved Yuwang box into the Yuwang people, and feed the reward feed continuously in the evening. After two days, we will check whether the larvae are accepted. If the larvae are accepted, the royal jelly will increase and the royal jelly will increase. The unaccepted ones will be bitten by the worker bees and the larvae will disappear.

If we are using the king-free group to raise the king, then we can put the king-bearing box into the box with the king, and then group the king-free group; if it is a bee colony with a king, put it in the next box after putting it in the king-bearing box. The Liutianwangtai will be sealed. At this time, we can manually choose to remove those crooked melons and split dates, select the well-developed Wangtai for cultivation, and count the number so that in the future, we can reach the best number of mating with drones.
