In order to save the bees, there are 10 things you need to do
May 20th is not only the anniversary of lovers full of sweet bubbles, but also World Bee Day.
In order to help protect bees and restore their habitats, a foreign website, Slow Food, launched a joint initiative to protect bees and asked the European Union to test pressure to gradually eliminate chemical pesticides and restore biodiversity in the agricultural sector. At the same time, on May 20 On this day, the non-governmental organization Slow Food also issued an initiative to propose 10 things that both you and I can do at any time in order to save the bees.
1. Grow flowers that bees like
Their favorite plants are marigolds, tulips, daisies, lavender, red bean grass, impatiens, borage, thyme, buckwheat, sunflower, mallow, marigold, annual fennel, rosemary, dill, parsnips , Coriander, alfalfa, and many more.
2. Do not use chemicals
Synthetic insecticides, fertilizers, herbicides, especially neonicotinoid insecticides are harmful to bees. They can affect the central nervous system of bees, leading to paralysis and death. Please avoid using synthetic products to treat your own small garden. Organic products and natural solutions such as compost should be preferred. Then use beneficial insects to get rid of parasites, such as ladybugs and praying mantises.
3. Buy honey from beekeepers
Buying organic honey and other products from beekeepers in your area is an excellent way to support the benefits to the local community. In addition, you will send a signal of interest to organic beekeepers, and organic beekeepers will be more attractive to conduct ethical beekeeping and ring maintenance of bees. Usually these insects produce excess honey, so if humans collect some, they won't mind.
4. Buy local organic and seasonal food
Although this suggestion does not seem to be focused, in reality, it is very important. By buying organic fruits and vegetables, you will avoid funding industrial agriculture that uses synthetic chemicals and pesticides. If it is seasonal food, then you will definitely help our bee friends find pollen to feed themselves.
5. Build a hotel for bees
With deforestation and consequent loss of habitat, it is difficult for these small insects to find space to build a "home". This is why we can build a house for them in our own place and place them in the garden, vegetable garden, yard or balcony. All you need to do is to create a wooden frame, insert a few pieces of wood into it, and use small twigs or bamboo sticks to make holes in it.
6. Plant trees for bees
The leaves and resin provide materials for bees to build nests, and the natural caves of wood are good shelters. If you have more space, you can plant fruit trees to provide them with nectar and refuge, thereby fighting deforestation and improving the habitat of bees.
7. Let the grass grow
Ignore your garden a little bit! This does not seem to be a good suggestion, but please try to mess up a corner of the garden a little bit. All kinds of flowers and tall grass will make bees happy.
8. Put a bowl of water for the thirsty bees
To make them recover from tedious pollination work, fill a shallow bowl with clean water and put pebbles in the bowl to make them destroy the water surface. The bee will land on the rock and drink a few sips of water.
9. Get information and share
Find out what the problem is and find new ways to help bee friends. There are many books and documentaries on this issue, and share this information with anyone who might be interested! You can also build your bee hotel or bee garden together.
10. Celebrate World Bee Day together!
May 20th is World Bee Day. Let us promote unity with the bees! Let's raise public awareness of the importance of saving bees and other pollinators.
