How to choose a beekeeping site?

How to choose a beekeeping site?

First, the selection of bee farm sites requires a certain number of nectar source plants nearby, which can not only breed bee colonies, but also produce honey. At the same time, investigate the development of beekeeping around the local area. If the bee colony in the vicinity of the east has developed to a saturated state, then the site a little bit in the west should be selected as the site.

Second, choose where to place the colony. The colony should be placed in a leeward, sunny, quiet place, at a certain distance from driveways and sidewalks.

Third, the distance that bees fly to collect is generally 2 kilometers, but the closer to the nectar source, the higher the efficiency of collection and pollination. Therefore, the venue is selected as close to the nectar source as possible.

Fourth, choose the venue to pay attention to:

①Do not choose wet low-lying land. Because this kind of location is prone to bee disease, evil pests, hinder the reproduction of bees, and management is inconvenient.

②The site should be relatively flat, not on the top of the slope or on the high ground, otherwise, the bees will have to fly upward when collecting back to the nest, which will reduce the effect of collecting pollen. In addition, the slopes and highlands are windy, which is not conducive to management and wintering.

③There should be clean water sources near the bee farm for bees to use, but it should not be close to reservoirs, lakes, or rivers, because when the bees collect honey and return to the box, it is easy to be blown into the water by the wind, and the queen bee is also easy to fall into the water and drown when it mates.
