Home beekeeping technology

1. Bee species selection

There are many types of bees, but Chinese bees and Italian bees are the most common. The advantages of Chinese bees are that they are adaptable and good at using scattered nectar sources. However, their relatively low yield and single product (basically only honey), while the reproduction speed of Italian bees Fast, big nectar source is strong, honey production is high, and products are abundant (honey, propolis, royal jelly, etc.). The disadvantages are low honey price, high management intensity, and high feed consumption. Therefore, family beekeeping can make reasonable choices according to their own conditions.

2. Source

You can set up beehives to trap wild bee colonies in places where bees often visit. Of course, if there is a Chinese bee farm nearby, you can also buy a few boxes.

Three, venue selection

Household beekeeping generally uses fixed-point breeding methods, so the choice of site is extremely important. First, there must be abundant effective nectar sources nearby (the collection range of bees is limited, and it is useless to have more nectar sources that exceed the maximum collection radius of the colony). Second, there must be clean water sources nearby, but not large lakes, rivers, etc. Third, the beekeeping environment requires quiet and suitable for the survival of bees, and finally, there should be as few enemies as wasps and ants near the bee farm.

Four, beekeeping tools

Household beekeeping does not have high requirements for bee equipment, but basic beekeeping facilities are necessary. The most important one is beehives. It is recommended to use live frame beehives, and at the same time, there should be nest frames and bases that match the beehives.

5. Management work

Bee colony management is the key and extremely complicated task of beekeeping. It mainly includes passing the box, dividing the bees, combining the colony, the king, and feeding, etc. The passing of the box refers to the transfer of the colony to the living frame beehive for raising, and the method of dividing the bees There are two types of artificial bee separation and natural bee separation. Combination refers to the combination of two colonies into a group. King Jie refers to the replacement of the old, weak, sick and disabled kings or intervenes in the new queen for the lost king group. Feeding can be divided into supplementary feeding There are two kinds of feeding and reward feeding. In short, colony management is definitely not a simple task.

6. Disease control

Regardless of the disease, we must focus on prevention and actively do a good job in the prevention and control of pests and diseases in daily management.

Seven, matters needing attention

1. Don't be too greedy in family beekeeping. As the saying goes, greedy is too much but not chew. If there is no technical support, greedy will often cause big problems.

2. The venue must be selected, especially the nearby nectar source and surrounding environment must be suitable for the survival of bees, otherwise it will only be wasted.

3. We must pay attention to the prevention and treatment of diseases, achieve early treatment of diseases and disease-free prevention, and do not wait for the outbreak of the disease before thinking of taking measures.

4. Keep up with the times and keep learning while accumulating experience. It is always good to communicate with other beekeepers.
