Formic acid (formic acid) is a colorless liquid with a pungent odor, which is toxic and irritating and can kill bee mites in contact with it. In fact, formic acid is the most widely used in beekeeping to control bee mites. , The reason is that formic acid can effectively poison the bee mites it comes into contact with and has no adverse reactions to bees. In addition, the volatile properties of formic acid can also prevent bee products from being polluted during the treatment of mites.

The outbreak of bee mites is mainly due to the control of the mites in the bee cover. The bee cover mites account for 90% of the total number of mites in the bee colony. The only way to control it is to brush the bee cover with formic acid. The smell of formic acid can pass through the bee cover. At the same time, the residual odor can also kill the mites on the surface of the bee. Formic acid brushing bee covers is the only way to control bee mites.

The application cycle of formic acid to treat bee mites varies depending on the damage situation. The bee colonies that are seriously harmed by bee mites can be controlled with formic acid once a day. After continuous control for one week, the medication can be appropriately slowed down according to the effect of bee mites. The bee colony can be controlled every 5 to 7 days, or the sealed spleen can be put into an empty beehive with formic acid concentrated fumigation for 3 to 5 hours and then returned to the original colony.
Precautions
1. The dosage of formic acid should be considered when treating bee mites. Excessive dosage of formic acid may have adverse effects on the bee colony.
2. When formic acid is used to treat bee mites, it should be placed on the beehive frame. The reason is that the gas generated by formic acid is heavier than the air. If it is placed at the bottom of the beehive, it may not have obvious effect of mites control.
3. When formic acid is used to treat bee mites, it is necessary to consider the problem of drug resistance. In fact, bee mites will develop resistance to the drugs for the treatment of mites. If formic acid is used frequently, there is often no obvious effect on mites.
